![]() ![]() The 1GDFTV with DPF realistically allows tiny amounts of oil to get through to the DPF, and if you the dealer uses a high ash engine oil, it stuffs up the DPF a lot quicker. I have been using the DL-1 5W-30 Low Ash oil and the car has been running great and the DPF burns have been shorter in duration and farther in between. I stopped going to the dealer for servicing and have been servicing my own fortuner since 20,000 kms, Now I've got 75,000 kms with it and I have no problems with DPF whatsoever. My DPF burns on those times were more frequent. ![]() On my first 2 services they clearly said in the receipt 15W-40 and they said they use it for all their cars. The main thing that you have to worry about is when your dealer uses normal 15W-40 oil which is basically "fleet oil" in a drum. It's just basically excess diesel that is unburnt. It only blows out white smoke when the Exhaust is not hot enough. You won't see it if you drive on freeway speeds as the hot exhaust will actually help burn the excess diesel that is injected into the DPF. It usually happens on low speeds or if you are accelerating from a dead stop. The white smoke emitted from the exhaust during a DPF burn-off is normal. ![]()
